Can you start by telling us a bit more about yourself?
My name is Tom Jackson and I’ve been working at Orca for almost 10 years, which sounds like a long time, but it’s flown by! My role is Project Specialist.
A fun fact about myself is that in my early days of working at Orca, I was travelling down to a client site in London, and on route, I was mistaken for James Corden. Not only this, but he wouldn’t leave until I’d signed an autograph and taken a photo with him!
Could you explain a little bit of what your role includes on a day-to-day basis?
One thing that I love about my role is the variety of different tasks I get involved in on a day-to-day basis. Firstly, I act as an escalation point for our projects team, meaning that should they encounter any issues, I can be available to help them find a timely solution. Once a project has gone live, I’m also a point of contact for our clients, this helps to ensure we’re there to provide a high level of service, should they have any queries.
I also assist with migrations, whether this be a new client or an existing client that’s going through changes. Through my role, I can help ensure this procedure goes as smoothly as possible with minimal disruptions.
How do you contribute to achieving our values of delivering a fast, high-quality service to our clients?
First and foremost, by listening to our clients’ needs. I feel as though the Orca team as a whole understand the importance of listening to the client’s goals so that we can provide an appropriate solution for them.
Another important factor that I feel we hit the nail on the head with is being highly approachable, this helps all of our clients to feel comfortable approaching us no matter what their issue is.
What do you think we do differently that helps us stand out as an industry-leading managed service provider?
Our team here at Orca are very good technically, meaning that we can deliver high-level solutions to all of our clients in a timely manner.
However, to me, we’ve one factor that is more important than this. Our team genuinely care about our clients and are always willing to go the extra mile to support them.
What do you enjoy most about working at Orca as a whole?
The people that I get to work with day in, day out – we’ve got a great group of people here, which makes coming to work every day enjoyable.
As well as this, given the length of time I’ve been here, I’ve got to know quite a few of the clients really well, and it’s really nice that many of the clients that I started working with almost a decade ago are still with us today. This has helped to build many nice relationships whilst also acting as a testament to the high quality of service that we provide.
